General Surgery

General surgery, despite its misleading name, is the surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal organs. This includes the oesophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. General surgery also deals with diseases involving the skin, breast, and hernias.
